Marrakech - Tourism professionals travel by promoting
Tourism professionals from Marrakech play the card of proximity. A new approach for both new markets issuers tourists and for the backup position in traditional markets, particularly in Europe.
It is in this wake that, under the action plan specifically dedicated to Marrakech, a delegation from the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) in Paris and the Regional Council of Tourism Marrakech organized last Thursday in Paris, the first workshop MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Congress and Events) exclusively dedicated to the city of Marrakech. Indeed, a delegation of 20 professionals representing 15 brands specializing in MICE, led by the president of CRT Marrakech, Hamid Bentahar, moved to Paris especially for this occasion. This workshop MICE entitled "Under the stars of Marrakech" has benefited from the expertise of Meedex (Meeting Destination Experts) to gather more than 200 French specialists (MICE event organizers, corporate, associations and other decision makers in the organization of events abroad) who have registered to participate in this event dedicated to MICE in Marrakech.
A city with a strong contribution, which remains at the heart of the priorities of the French market, especially as it is being continually opening new hotel structures and new convention centers (Lucien Gates Naoura, Mandarin Oriental, Four Season, Kenzi Menara Palace, Park Hyatt, Raffles Suite Hotel, La Mamounia ...). Hotel capacity coupled with new infrastructure and air services with good quality / price ratio. Strengths highlighted to attract other targets, mostly Russian tourists interested in all that is authentic and original. It is in this sense that a prospecting trip was organized from June 18 to 25 in Marrakech and Essaouira, the benefit of 24 Russian tour operators, and, as part of promotion of the destination, conducted jointly by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), the Royal Air Morocco (RAM) and the Regional Tourist Board (CRT). This stay in the red city, the third of its kind organized this year after it launched earlier in favor of 80 Russian journalists, was an opportunity for representatives of Russian Tour Operators to discover the potential hotels, tourist, economic, historical and civilizational that contain the city of Marrakech and its hinterland.
Interest in the Russian market, however, may be motivated by several considerations, among others, the fact that the Russian tourist is one of the biggest spenders in the world (on average eight times more than German). Another consideration is that it has a preference for the beach, stay in luxury hotels and the acquisition of goods and valuables. The development of foreign investment in Russia and increased export earnings from raw materials, have enabled the country to position currently among the world's largest economies. Moreover, the number of Russians who have an income for a trip abroad is estimated at 18.7 million. In Moscow alone and in its suburbs, air traffic increased by 46%, with 12 million passengers annually.
