Gnawa Festival in Essaouira 2010: The 13th edition of the Gnawa Festival will be held this year from Thursday 24/06/2010 to Sunday, 27.06.2010.

The Festival Gnawa and World Music Essaouira reserves this year of many surprises to its faithful and cosmopolitan audience. Crossing the symbolic course of 12 years and 500 000 festival-goers, this year the festival offers a rich program, reaffirming its commitment to the Gnaoua heritage in all its diversity and to invite the best world and jazz artists to come and perform in the unique and magical town of Essaouira.
Gnawa musicians to honor first of all, this year with a new scene which is dedicated to Bab Doukkala, allowing fans of Gnaoua rhythms to meet their stars, from Hamid El Kasri to Abdelkébir Merchane for concerts Gnaoua 100%, and as the traditional lilas in the exceptional setting of the Gnawa Zaouia every night at midnight for the purists.
World and jazz musicians in turn will perform every night on stage Moulay Hassan, offering a combination of the best current sounds: the unexpected Trio Joubran which includes three brothers oud players in the English giant of the blues from Justin Adams by the inevitable Toumani Diabaté and percussion in traditional Korean Salmunori Group.
